| Christianity has, across its 2000 year history, taken any number of social positions on the acceptability of various human beings to God that it has subsequently matured away from. From the enslavement and sub-human treatment of people of African heritage to the misogynistic subjugation of women, the Bible has for centuries at a time been largely understood by Christian “experts” to lend a godly endorsement of social policies that all civilized people (including traditional Christians) now uniformly reject. Make no mistake, there was a time not many decades ago when orthodox Christianity was as fiercely committed to the biblical teachings that black people and women were inferior to white men as they are presently committed to idea that the Bible condemns homosexuality. |

| We aren’t going to tell you that the Bible definitively says this or that about same-gender intimacy. At the end of the day, we don’t believe any scholarship on the matter can claim to be irrefutably correct. But we are going to point out that with the lack of uniform scholarship on the matter, it would seem that the best course of action would be to become informed about what other viewpoints exist and expose yourself to communities of Christian faith that espouse those views and let Holy Spirit speak to you about where you ought to fall on the issue. No one can tell you what to believe on controversial doctrinal matters, you must trust God to lead you into all righteousness. |
At RBMCC we know without a shadow of a doubt that Holy Spirit has confirmed and empowered our ministry, brought the good things of God into our lives and placed God’s blessing on our same-gender unions. Our view of the Bible supports this and the witness of God’s Spirit confirms it. We invite you to let Holy Spirit, not another person who possesses no greater ability to be informed by Scripture than you possess, tell you what you should or should not change in your life in order to please God. We trust that if you do this, God will not only speak to you about who you are in Christ, but give you an unshakeable peace that you are believing and acting in accordance with God’s design for you.
Remember, you are fearfully and wonderfully made. No person or group of people, no matter their supposed biblical expertise or religious authority, can ever hope to quantify you and correctly render judgment on how God feels about who and how you were created to be. |
